Castle of Tharoggad is a 3D graphical dungeon crawl game inspired by the smashing critical and popular success of Dungeons of Daggorath. While not explicitly acknowledging or mentioning its legendary predecessor, it is obviously a "spiritual sequel" or honorary sequel, given that "Tharoggad" is "Daggorath" spelled backwards.
Tharoggad tries to improve on Daggorath by using filled in graphics rather than wireframes, and in full color (with the CoCo 3's higher resolution and expanded color palette). It also uses a mouse-driven control system, requiring clicking on on-screen icons rather than typing in an apparent attempt to be more user-friendly and advanced.
However, the game was poorly received by critics and users.

In response to The Rainbow's critical review, the author wrote a letter to the Editor in response, making some valid points, such as that the game actually does have some animation, and that the "slow" pace of the game (compared to an arcade title) is appropriate for an RPG.
